Nested comfortably in the warm waters of the Mediterranean, seemingly untouched by the chaos of the modern world, sits the island of Malta. Every summer, Singers will be heading to this paradise to participate in the Golden Cross International Singing Festival.
Year 2004 saw the birth of a cultural initiative in Malta – The Golden Cross International Singing Festival, which was a huge success. It is a manifestation of local and international talent. Not only is such an event a celebration of individual talent and creative energy, but it is also a testimony that the creative arts are indeed great portals leading to friendship, solidarity and peace through culture, a belief effectively shared by FIDOF.
This event is a Golden opportunity to Maltese and foreign singers coming from different parts of the world to sing songs penned by renowned Maltese and international composers and share their talents with each other. The Festival will not only be entertaining, it will also be a valuable educational experience for all those taking part.
The organizing board always retain its policy of investing heavily in singers and members of the jury and will do its utmost to manage to secure the participation of renowned international young singers for each edition. Foreign countries who participated are: England, Poland, Sicily, Macedonia, Bosnia & Herzogovina, Moldovia, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Serbia & Montenegro, Italy, Lithuania and Ukraine.
For the first time during the 2005 edition a pre-festival show was held in which all foreign singers together with local singers and guests performed during an open air show. This show was held in Xlendi Bay at the sister island of Gozo.
The Executive Director of "THE GOLDEN CROSS" is a member of the International Federation of Festival Organizers (FIDOF). He will ensure the quality of organization, professionalism, quality of hospitality, aims of the event in conformity with FIDOF’s goal to strengthen peace and friendship through music and art and to promote singers from all over the world.
